Red Flags to Watch For in Myo-Inositol Supplements
No D-Chiro-Inositol Disclosed
Two products in our initial pool of 9 were dropped because they disclosed no D-chiro-inositol content at all, just myo-inositol under an "inositol" label. Myo-inositol alone is studied, but it's a different intervention with a different evidence base than the 40:1 combination most PCOS trials tested.
"Inositol" Isn't Automatically the 40:1 Blend
A product can call itself an inositol supplement for PCOS without ever stating the myo-to-D-chiro ratio. If the ratio isn't printed on the label or supplement facts panel, assume you're not getting the combination the research is actually based on.
Marketing Ratio Doesn't Match the Facts Panel
One product we reviewed listed a ratio on its marketing page that didn't match its own supplement facts panel. When the two disagree, the supplement facts panel is the legally binding figure, not the sales copy. Treat any mismatch as a reason to look elsewhere.
